The 7th Annual Shine to Wine Festival is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2011, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm in Downtown North Wilkesboro. We will have live entertainment, art, merchandise, wine, and food.
Along with showcasing North Wilkesboro, Wilkes County and the burgeoning wine industry in our area, this year’s event will feature the 4th Annual Culinary Chef Challenge, where regional chefs representing surrounding restaurants will compete for the title of Best Chef, Most Creative and People’s Choice. These chefs will display their cooking and presentation talents for a jury of judges and critics.
The celebration will begin at 12pm, and continue until 6pm. General admission is FREE, and wine tastings are only $20! ($15 in advance)

The 7th Annual festival will feature the 4th year of the Culinary Chef Competition which will take place with a new twist.
Area chefs will participate in the new Chef’s Best event where they will be offering samples of a signature dish. Attendees
with food tasting tickets will serve as the jury, and will vote for People’s Choice: Best Chef. The Chef’s Best event is
sponsored by Tumbling Shoals Farms and Apple Brandy Beef Farms.
A new addition this year will be an Art Tent sponsored by Brame Huie Pharmacy and in part by Grassroots funding from the
North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency through the Cultural Arts Council of Wilkes. This addition will highlight our
local art galleries and will feature local and regional artists demonstrating painting, sketching, and pottery making. The
Kids’ Art Tent will also be back with instructor-led art activities for children. The Kids’ Art Tent is sponsored by
Arnold and Becky Lakey. The festival will also feature local and regional arts and crafts vendors.
Music for the festival will feature Freeport Jazz from Winston-Salem, NC. This year’s festival bands are sponsored in part
by Grassroots funding from the NC Arts Council, a state agency through the Cultural Arts Council of Wilkes, the local arts
council. Freeport Jazz has many years of experience playing “jazz for the people” and are a mainstay on the jazz festival circuit.
