New Addition, prior to the 6th Annual Shine to Wine on Sat., local restaurants will be hosting Wine Dinners on Friday, April 23rd at 7pm.
Sixth and Main Restaurant will be hosting Elkin Creek Winery, Branciforte Italian Ristorante will be hosting Benny Parsons’ Rendezvous Ridge, and Key City Grille will be hosting McRitchie Winery & Ciderworks. Each winery and restaurant has been working together respectively to pair wines with each course. Culinary and wine descriptions will be given during the evening to enhance your dining enjoyment. Enjoy local cuisine with local wines at a very affordable price of $50 per person. Seating is limited to 10 spaces per restaurant. Tickets are also on sale for Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro’s (HDTNW) Sixth Annual Shine to Wine Festival to be held in North Wilkesboro on Tenth Street, between Main and D Streets, on Saturday, April 24th from 12pm – 6pm. General admission is FREE, and wine tastings are only $15 in advance.
Festival goers can purchase Tasting Tickets that will allow them to sample wines from each of the vineyards and wineries. Ticket holders will also receive a souvenir Shine to Wine wine glass. Tasting Tickets are just $15 in advance. This year's event has been extended in festival space which will now stretch to D Street and will feature 21 area wineries. They are Allison Oaks Winery, Benny Parsons Rendezvous Ridge, Brushy Mountain Winery, Cerminaro Vineyard, Chateau Laurinda Vineyards, Grassy Creek Vineyard, Ginger Creek Vineyards, Lake James Cellar Winery, McRitchie Winery & Ciderworks, Native Vines Winery, Old Stone Winery, Raintree Cellars, Rocky River Vineyards, Round Peak Vineyards, Shadow Springs Vineyards, Southern Charm Winery, Sweet Vine Winery, Thistle Meadow Winery, Uwharrie Vineyards, Weathervane Winery and Wood Mill Winery.
Along with showcasing North Wilkesboro, Wilkes County and the burgeoning wine industry in our area, this year’s event will feature the 3rd Annual Culinary Chef Challenge, where regional chefs representing surrounding restaurants will compete for the title of Best Chef and Most Creative. These chefs will display their cooking and presentation talents for a jury of judges and critics.
A new addition this year is a kid’s tent with art activities hosted by the Wilkes Art Gallery and sponsored by Dr. Brad Shinaman, Sheila Brame, Arnold & Becky Lakey and Faw Insurance.
There will also be free musical performances throughout the entire festival by the Shu Band and Matt Bizzell! These bands are sponsored in part by Grassroots funding from the NC Arts Council, a state agency through the Cultural Arts Council of Wilkes, the local arts council. The Shu Band creates a unique blend of music by moving across genres. Matt Bizzell has a contemporary style of original music that everyone is sure to enjoy. Both bands are back by popular demand.
Local and regional artists will display and sell their arts and crafts during this year's festival. Merchandise will include arts, crafts, clothing, wine racks, food and more.
