The deadline for bands to register for the 4th Annual Battle of the Bands has been extended from August 1 to August 15.
“We have had plenty of applications,” says Melissa Smithey, Executive Director of Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro, “but so many bands were requesting an extension that we decided to give them all a few more weeks.”
The 2007 Battle of the Bands will be held on Saturday, September 29th on the Parking Decks of Downtown North Wilkesboro beginning at 4:00pm. Tiffany’s Place Teen Center and Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro, Inc. (HDTNW), two non-profit organizations, are collaboratively organizing the event.
The musical styles include a wide range of blues rock, contemporary rock, pop rock, Christian rock, emo, and heavy metal. All bands are required to perform their own original music.
The event is appropriate for all ages. No alcohol is allowed on the premises, and security will be provided. Admission is $10.00 at the gate and T-shirts will be for sale for $10.00. Tickets and T-shirts can be purchased in advance at Tiffany’s Place in Benton Hall on 300 D Street in North Wilkesboro for a discounted price of $15.00, or online at www.downtownnorthwilkesboro.com. Everyone will need to bring their own chairs, and all backpacks and chair bags will be checked at the entrance gate. No outside food or drinks will be allowed.
The Amateur bands will be competing for a cash prize of $250.00, and the Professional bands will be competing for a cash prize of $1,000.00. Awards will also be given for Best Instrumentalist and Best Vocals. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges, as well as by votes from the audience. There will be a merchandise tent set up for all bands to sell their CDs and other band merchandise, as well as a meet-and-greet station for autographs.
Professional Competition Sponsors for this event are: Leonard Herring Family Foundation and Kulynch Family Foundation. The T-shirt sponsor is Tyson Foods, Inc. Corporate sponsors are Bob Ham and BB&T Bank.
