So much more than wine...

Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro’s (HDTNW) Third Annual Shine to Wine Festival will be held in North Wilkesboro on Tenth Street, between Main and D Streets, on Saturday, May 5th from 11am – 5pm.

This year's event will feature 13 area wineries. They are Allison Oaks Vineyards, Brushy Mountain Winery, Cerminaro Vineyard, Chateau Laurinda Vineyards, Flint Hill Vineyard, Ginger Creek Vineyards, Grassy Creek Vineyards and Winery, Lake James Cellars Winery, Old North State Winery, RagApple Lassie Vineyards, Stony Knoll Vineyards, Thistle Meadow Winery, and Weathervane Winery.

Festival goers can purchase Tasting Tickets that will allow them to sample wines from each of the vineyards and wineries. Ticket holders will also receive a souvenir Shine to Wine wine glass. Tasting Tickets are just $20. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Ivy Ridge Traditions at 813 Main Street, North Wilkesboro; Chamber of Commerce at 717 Main Street, North Wilkesboro; Key City Grille at 211 10th Street, North Wilkesboro; Genuwine Spirits at 104 6th Street, North Wilkesboro, and online at www.DowntownNorthWilkesboro.com.

Do you have a sweet tooth? There will also be homemade ice cream and a variety of ‘Shine baked goods. Want to do a little shopping? The festival will also have vendors selling items such as Handmade Jewelry, Wine Holders, Wine Racks, Rhythm Clocks, Oversized Adirondack Chairs, Hand Painted Wine Glasses, and Vacation Getaway Packages. Festival goers can also purchase raffle tickets for a $2,000 Carnival Cruise package, sign up for the Wine of the Month Club, and Adopt a Turtle with the Yadkin Valley Greenway.

The 3rd Annual Shine to Wine festival is dedicated to the late Benny Parsons, a well known and respected Wilkes native that passed away on January 16th of this year. In his honor, come see a sneak preview of the Benny Parsons’ Museum in the Wilkes County Public Library. The preview will display just a fraction of the items that will be in the Benny Parson’s museum at Rendezvous Ridge Vineyards in Purlear when the museum is completed later this year.

The preview will be showcasing over 60 items from his racing and broadcasting career such as his Winston Cup trophy, Emmy awards, racing gear, seven foot Wheaties Box, and pictures. Admission to the museum preview is free and will be open from 11am – 5pm on Saturday May 5th.

Gold Medal sponsor for the event are Wilkes Regional Medical Center and SunTrust Bank. Silver Medal sponsors are GINN Laurelmor and The Herring Family Foundation. Bronze Medal sponsors are Wachovia Bank and GoWilkes.com
