Tax Incentives for Renovating Historic Properties
Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro will sponsor a free Preservation Tax Credit workshop Tuesday, February 28, in the Wilkes Public Library Friends of The Library Room from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. The workshop is open to all interested persons in Wilkes County.
The workshop will be conducted by representatives from State Historic Preservation Office within the North Carolina Office of Archives and History. They will explain the qualifications and application procedures in order for property owners to utilize federal and state tax income credits for renovating historic commercial and residential properties.
Properties listed in the National Register of Historic Places are candidates for these tax credits. They will have on hand a list of National Register historic properties in Wilkes County. They will also go over how older properties may be listed on the National Register.
Carl Page of Page Interworks and Dentist Todd Jordon will also be on hand to answer questions about their restoration projects and use of the tax credits.
To attend the free workshop, register with the Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro office at 667-4875, or email them at info@hdtnw.org. Light refreshments will be served at 5:45 PM before the workshop.
