Wilkes County Public Library hosts the Chess Club every Thursday evening on the upper level. Beginners welcome.

Downtown Concert Series -- Folk in the Park - July 29, 2010
Downtown Concert Series for the Summer of 2010.
Each event will begin at 5:30pm and will be a family-oriented block party held the on the corner of Tenth and Main Streets in the Brushy Mountain Ruritan Apple Festival Park.
There will be no admission charge. Food and beverages will be available on the street from downtown restaurants.

July 29 -- Folk in the Park hosted by Wilkes County Public Library and the Friends of the Wilkes County Public Library

The 2nd Annual Wilkes Library Con will be Sat,July 31st at the Wilkes County Public Library. It's a family friendly mini-convention that focuses on science fiction, fantasy, and fun. Brushy Mountain Apple Festival - October 2, 2010
The Brushy Mountain Apple Festival, presented by the Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club, is one of the largest one-day arts and crafts festivals in the Southeast. Over 100 civic, church and other non-profit organizations participate in the festival. Over 160,000 people visit this festival during the day and it's FREE. The festival is held on the first Saturday in October.
